When the rust occurred in the Charyrian area of the Soviet Union, all the spring native common wheat cultivars showed very little resistance to stem rust and leaf rust, which seriously affected the yield and quality. Leaf rust in milky maturity, stem rust occurred in the most serious maturity, especially late-maturing varieties and late-sowing wheat victims. Common wheat varieties of leaf rust infection rate of 50-80%, or even higher; stalk rust infection rate of 67.9%.
