3世纪以降,邺城先后成为曹魏、后赵、冉魏、前燕、东魏和北齐六朝古都,两汉之际传入中土的佛教在此不断繁衍发展,并于6世纪中期达到顶峰,取代洛阳成为中原北方地区的佛教文化中心。近年来邺城考古队先后发现和发掘了邺南城赵彭城北朝佛寺、核桃园北朝佛寺及北吴庄佛教造像埋藏坑,为探讨北朝至隋唐时期的寺院建筑格局、建造技术、瘗埋制度提供了全新的资料,同时也为研究北朝佛教造像和形制类型、题材组合和分期断代提供了可靠的标尺。
In the third century, Tancheng became the ancient capital of Cao Wei, the Later Zhao, Ran Wei, Qian Yan, the Eastern Wei Dynasty and the Northern Qi Dynasty.
