In the winter of 1972, I was nine years old and went to third grade in primary school. I came to this snow-capped city from a small village in Shaanxi province called Urumqi. At that time, I can not figure out the relationship between Xinjiang and Urumqi. I think Xinjiang is Urumqi and Urumqi is Xinjiang. Just as some people still regard Beijing as China, I think they are two different things in their own right. Not to mention that one person may have two names, not to mention such a big place. I followed my parents, holding my brother in my hand. When I came down from the train and saw the city, I also saw many large and small cars, camels that looked like monsters and groups of high-nose deep Sighted, later I knew they were Uighurs or Kazakhs who later met through fights or games and thought they were no different from me.
