Sinus of Valsalva aneurysm is a rare cardiac anomalythought to be caused by a deficiency of fusion of theaorta’s media with the aortic valve’s annulus fibrosis, orby actual detachment. It is usually congenital but lesscommonly associated with endocarditis, atherosclerosis, trauma, syphilis, or aortic dissection. Since the firstreport in the mid-eighteenth century, sinus of Valsalvaaneurysm has been described increasingly. The estimatedprevalence of the disease is about 1% in patientsundergoing open-heart surgery, and the morbidity ishigher in the oriental than in Western population.
