This paper is a study of the superpowers’ behavior in the Taiwan Straits crisis,Autumn 1958.Its aim is the discovery,analysis and explanation of their patterns of behavior in the period of the crisis And,moreover,it tries to provide a personal interpretation of the consequences of the superpowers’ interaction.Concretely speaking, this paper tries to answer the following questions:How did they interact during the crisis?What are the patterns of their behavior?Why did they make decisions in such a way?Under what circumstances did they make decisions and conduct policies?What are their policy goals?What are the determining factors for their action or inaction?Did they succeed or fail to realize their goals?Who lost or gained anything in the crisis?And finally,what lessons or rules can we draw from this crisis?
