当用轧辊车刀和其它切削刀具加工轧辊时,在切削区产生热过程,使加工条件严重地变坏。由于铸铁导热系数很低(特别是高铬铸铁),当机械加工带有白硬层的铸铁轧辊时所产生的热量比加工普通结构材料时大5~20倍。众所周知,当以24米/分的切削速度纵向车削白口铬铁轧辊时,切削部分的温升为800℃以上。使用成型车刀车削量规时,工作条件特别不利。在采用成型刀具加工时,如果刀具的刃口宽度超过100毫米,不仅刀具的切削部分而且刀体上都产生大量的热。
