Objective: To investigate the relationship between the serum level of thymidine kinase 1 (TK1) and clinicopathological features and prognosis in patients with lung cancer. Methods: A total of 79 lung cancer patients treated in our hospital from January 2012 to January 2014 were selected as the study subjects. Another 53 volunteers were selected as healthy subjects in our hospital during the same period. The chemiluminescence method was used to detect the expression of TK1 in serum of two groups of patients and to analyze the relationship between the expression of TK1 and clinicopathological features and prognosis of the tumors. Results: The positive expression rate of TK1 in serum of patients with lung cancer (56.96%) was significantly higher than that of healthy controls (16.98%), the difference was statistically significant (P <0.05). The positive expression rate of TK1 in serum of patients with advanced tumor stage was higher than that of patients with early stage of lung cancer staging (P <0.05). The positive rate of TK1 in serum of patients with distant metastasis was higher than that without Patients with distant metastasis, the difference was statistically significant (P <0.05). There was no significant difference in the positive expression rates of TK1 in sera of patients with gender, smoking history, lymph node metastasis and pathological types (P> 0.05). The two year survival rate of TK1 positive patients (42.22%) was lower than that of TK1 negative patients (64.71%), the difference was statistically significant (P <0.05). Conclusion: TK1 is highly expressed in serum of patients with lung cancer. The expression level of TK1 is related to distant metastasis of tumor, TMN stage and prognosis.
