Salinger’s “Franny & Zu” is composed of two antecedent-related novels. By comparing the origin and connotation of the two outcomes before and after, this essay focuses on the protagonist’s spiritual appeal to epiphany and analyzes its meaning in the western literary meaning and the concept of oriental zen. The former emphasizes the instant perception in everyday things, Desire to read the heart of the heart. The epiphany of the characters embodies the characteristics of instantness and non-exaggeration, and the contents of enlightenment are contained in the final image.
