Sichuan is located in the upper reaches of the Yangtze River, the province covers an area of about 50% of the Yangtze River basin area. The ecological environment in Sichuan is directly related to the flood control in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River and the sustainable economic and social development of the entire basin. It also affects the long-term peace and stability of the country’s Three Gorges Project and also the ultimate realization of the strategic goal of the western development in the province.
