At the age of 15, Winton Cerf dropped his cello and turned to the keyboard and the computer. That was the late 1950s. In 1997, President Clinton presented Cerf to the National Technology Prize of the United States, which he calls “the father of the Internet.” Together with Robert Kahn, he was responsible for designing the basic structure of the Internet so that we can exchange information and protect information on a global scale. Vint Cerf, 71, who has not yet retired, is currently busy with what he calls the interstellar Internet, a network of computers in space. Cerf is also Google’s vice president, and “chief Internet communications officer ”. In 2005, President George W. Bush presented the President Medal of Honor to Cerf, who officially entered the Internet World Hall of Fame in 2012. Recently he used his computer to make phone calls and talk to the Washington Post about the Internet, his life and his aging.
