标志着铅酸蓄电池重大革新与进步的免维护蓄电池(ME)在国外已广泛使用。这种新型电池需采用新型板栅合金以确保其高可靠性和优良的电气性能,并具有降低水耗,节省维护费用的优点,目前我国已将这种新型蓄电池产品的开发与应用列为“八”攻关项目。 ME板栅合金的研制在我国已达10年之久,但质量一直不太稳定。近3年来,湖北省谷城有色金属冶炼厂在中南工业大学的指导帮助下,与湖北汽车蓄电池厂配合,解决了ME板栅合金母体金属与合金元素熔点和比重相差太大的难点,经多次研究找到了优化工艺条件,研制成功并批量生产了这种合金材料,经572厂和482厂等单位使用,性能良好。在1992年4月湖北省襄樊市科委主持的鉴定会上受到专家们的好评并顺利通过鉴定。
