East Asia was the key area for Taiwan’s overseas investment. Between 1987 and 1991, Taiwan’s foreign investment mainly flowed to the four ASEAN countries, mainly to mainland China from 1992 to 1993, and from 1994 to 1996, its main flow shifted from mainland China to the ASEAN region. After the Asian financial crisis, Taiwan’s investment in East Asia dropped slightly and its investment in Southeast Asia dropped significantly. However, it began to focus on increasing the scientific and technological content of its products and increasing its investment in the financial and insurance industries and other service industries. At the same time, Taiwan Business investment in the mainland steadily rose, and set off the third wave of mainland investment boom, the most prominent feature is the investment industry to electronic information industry. The above analysis provides many helpful revelations for us to better enhance the competitiveness of Taiwanese investors.
