The issue of tectonic stress metamorphism of coal is proposed, starting from the study of the actual distribution rules of coal metamorphic zones in eastern China. It is a new type of coal metamorphism summarized by scientific practice under the enlightenment of geological mechanics theory by coal geological workers in China in recent years. The research shows that the distribution orientation, range and assemblage of the Late Paleozoic and Mesozoic coal metamorphic belts are often related to the distribution patterns and complex relations of various tectonic systems or structural belts.
