十六世紀初,鼻烟在歐洲時髦起來,直到十九世紀初,風行達三百餘年之久。自明正德年間後,歐洲這一嗜好和各種以金、銀、琥珀、象牙、玳瑁等珍貴材料,特别是以玻璃製成的鼻烟盒、壺,流傳到我國后,立即受到帝王们的喜愛。 Snuff became fashionable in Europe until the early nineteenth century, reaching a peak of 300 years.
