In 1771, French engineering captain José Nio designed and built a steam engine-powered vehicle (see Figure 1). The car consists of a boiler and a wooden body with three wheels and two 11-gallon cylinders. After the vehicle is driven every 15 minutes to stop, for boiling water. It takes about 15 minutes for the water to boil and turn into steam, and the vehicle travels about 4 kilometers per hour per hour. Although the car was only used as a towing weight in the army at the time, it was also regarded as the earliest prototype of a three-wheeled motorcycle. More importantly, it greatly inspired the military strategists to develop and exploit her on the battlefield, as well as in the later two worlds
