Globalstar was approved by the U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC) International Bureau to allow the company's second-generation “Globalstar” satellite to operate nationwide. This approval by the International Bureau will take effect as soon as Star Global completes its French registration process for the new constellation. Global Star Company launched the first 6 second-generation “Globalstar” satellites at the Baikonur Space Center in Kazakhstan on October 19, 2010 using the Allianz “Alliance 2-1A / Fregat” rocket.
