The specific geologic and geochemical conditions of oil and gas fields lead to the formation of helium and radium (Radon) enrichment near the oil (gas) water interface at the reservoir margin. The rising groundwater flow makes the enrichment of the above elements likely to be reflected in the near-surface area and is distributed annularly at the edge of the oil and gas reservoirs. Above the reservoir, the lower field of these elements is displayed, which is the basis for the possible application of nuclear techniques in the exploration of oil and gas fields. The measured results on oil and gas fields in China and abroad confirm the above conclusion.
