笔者以前到某城出差,大多到“人民饭店”吃饭,那里服务态度好、质量高,收费标准也合理,生意挺红火的。可不久前再到该店时,情景已非同往日。尽管门面装饰一新,桌、凳也光澈透亮,生意却大不如前,颇有点“门前冷落车马稀”。随行的同事告诉我,原来是该店方凳上的标记作的怪:一个圆圈带一个“人”字,本意为“人民饭店”,但此形与“囚”字相似,冲了人们的忌讳,出门人总想图个吉利,谁愿去做“囚犯”呢? The accompanying colleagues told me that the original mark was the strangeness on the side stool of the store: a circle with a “person” was originally intended as “people’s hotel”, but this shape was similar to the word “prisoner” and smashed people’s taboos.
