According to the two theories of national identity, identity is mainly a product based on subjective self-identity. There are still some obvious problems in British national identity, but both can be found from the historical process. However, the reason why the country, which is fully known as the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, can be maintained for a longer period of time (1707-1922) is due to both internal and external causes. After World War II, the tremendous changes in the status of Britain have had a new impact on the identity of the country. With regard to the identity recognition of the UK and the prospect of its national development, the author believes that with the continuous improvement of EU integration, with the increase of the transfer of sovereignty of member states, the decline of the role of the state and the rising influence of the region, Including the EU member states will further decline in national identity.
