本文作者指出:正统既是一个政治概念,又是一个宗法概念,宗法原则是正统观念的精髓;历史上五花八门的正统观,鼓吹的都是“君统论”,实质是为“万世一系”的“家天下”服务,成为维护中国封建专制主义的一个思想武器;在分裂割据时代,大一统观念成为促进国家统一的一面旗帜,客观上符合历史发展的总趋势;我们今天在重新考察这一命题时,应以科学为武器,用“民统论”取代“正统论”,也就是说,谁代表人民的利益,谁就是真正的“主权国家”的代表.
