Forecasts from relevant state agencies indicate that motorcycles are playing an increasingly significant role in the transition from having bicycles to having small cars for most Chinese residents. The national motorcycle “Ninth Five-Year Plan ” conference jointly convened by the State Development Planning Commission, the State Economic and Trade Commission, and the Ministry of Electrical and Mechanical Services revealed that from the 1980s to the present, the Chinese motorcycle industry has grown by leaps and bounds. By 1994, the country’s motorcycle production reached more than 5 million, an increase of 51.5% over 1993. Several famous motorcycle manufacturers in China, such as Jialing, Qingqi, Jianshe, Jincheng, etc., have produced more than one million cars. According to statistics, at present, China’s average motorcycle ownership is 1%, and it is 3% of the world’s average water.
