A new study published in the UK by Thorax magazine found that eating salted meat four times per week, such as ham or sausage, may cause asthma exacerbations. In the new study, experts from Paul Bruce Hospital in Paris, France conducted a 10-year follow-up survey of 971 French. The survey included dietary patterns and dyspnea, chest tightness and shortness of breath and other asthma symptoms. It was found that 14% of those who ate no more than 1 ham or sausage per week (equivalent to 8 ham or 4 sausages) experienced asthma exacerbations at 4 years. Among the participants who ate 1-4 portions of ham sausage weekly, 20% were asthmatic
