I am an old coal mine However, every time I saw the yellowed photo that had been preserved for nearly 50 years, that period of blood and fire began to rekindle my mind. That was 1952, and I was approved as a coal mine mechanic to enroll in the Chinese People’s Volunteers Army. After entering the DPRK, the seventh contingent of the Volunteer Army’s rear engineering general even served as a mechanic and was responsible for maintaining and repairing more than 700 freeways and more than 200 bridges and culverts along the East Coast in Wonsan, Yangde, Datong and Pyongyang.
