Alice Monroe’s short stories, mostly based on real life, have deep insights into the working class and the middle class in Canada. This article attempts to start from the life experience of Monroe and Cinderella, and expounds the image of her role as “beggar woman” and “helper woman” in her works, reflecting her class consciousness. The “beggar woman” image of Monroe deviates from the traditional “Cinderella” model and reinforces the social and political contexts obscured by the “Cinderella” discourse system to a certain extent, highlighting the identity And class attributes. In addition, Monroe criticized the hierarchy differences existing in society as a poor counter-attack weapon through the poor narration of “mercenary women.”
