我省共有40～120立方米/小时的挖泥船46艘。在长江下游区段施工,受到涨落潮水的影响,水位时常发生变化。这些挖泥船,因自身条件限制,自动预报水位和自动测水深的工作,至今未能解决。检查挖泥深度,仍靠测深杆或测深锤。水位靠设在挖泥船附近临时打下的水尺观测掌握。白天凭肉眼看。晚上由专人用小划子奔波于水尺挖泥船之间传报水位。
