由IBM PC发展而来的Wintel机,虽经过多次更新换代,但都是在IBM PC AT的结构基础上进行处理器的升级和功能的扩充。现在老结构(采用ISA总线)同新要求(多媒体用途)的矛盾越来越突出,到了非进行彻底改革的时候了。 所以1997年的个人机将以崭新的面貌出现。最大特点是彻底废除ISA总线,搬走提高传输速率的绊脚石,而改用PCI高速总线。ISA的传输速率只有2MB/秒,后者的有效传输速率可达50MB/秒,而理论上最大可达133MB/秒。
Wintel machines evolved from IBM PCs have been updated many times but have been upgraded and expanded based on the IBM PC AT architecture. Now the conflict between the old structure (using the ISA bus) and the new requirements (multimedia use) has become more prominent, not the time for a complete reform. So in 1997 the personal plane will appear with a brand new appearance. The most prominent feature is the total abolition of the ISA bus, move away to improve the transfer rate of stumbling block, and switch to PCI Express bus. ISA transfer rate of only 2MB / sec, the latter effective transfer rate of up to 50MB / sec, while the theoretical maximum of up to 133MB / sec.
