Many years ago, with the support of a private foundation, G · Pat started a “Happy Reading through Reading” activity in a residential area outside the Paris suburbs with the aim of providing children with reading activities. However, even in 1990, such undertakings were still rare in the Third World countries, but they showed their interest in it. As in Zimbabwe, cultural collections include libraries related to other activities such as reading and discussion. In Zaire, there is a novel idea, the Book Train, which is made up of carriages connected by train. It circulates all over the country and stops in small towns. Its resources include drama production materials, a library and A reading room for local people. In Botswana, secondary schools are encouraged to build libraries and part of the 120 secondary schools to set up World Bank loans to buy books for a basic collection.
