This article presents an overview of the development of disc brakes for trucks weighing more than 9 tons. The performance of disc brakes for heavy vehicles is studied and compared with the performance of existing brakes. On this basis, the author of the paper believes that the disc brake of heavy vehicles will develop rapidly. As a rule of thumb, the brake system of a truck usually meets two basic requirements. One is that when braking a fully loaded vehicle running on a dry road surface, the rear wheel braking torque is sufficient to cause the rear wheel to slip on the road surface; and second, when a no-load vehicle traveling on a wet road surface is braked, Front wheel braking torque is not enough to make the front wheel slip on the road.
