海兰矿床是1968年发现的,位于怀俄明州泡德河盆地南部。铀矿化由敷盖在砂粒表面的炭灰、黑色沥青铀矿和铀石组成,富集在第三纪砂岩河道的边部。铀被氧化的溶液搬运,沿埋藏河道迁移并分散到渗透性差的河道边部砂岩中,形成典型的卷状和板状矿床。未蚀变的砂岩呈浅灰至灰-米黄色。已氧化的砂岩呈不同颜色,如红色、黄色及黄褐色。提出铀源是渐新世的,但长石质主岩的淋滤作用也可能提供另一矿源。
The Highland deposit was discovered in 1968 and is located in the southern part of the Bubo River in Wyoming. Uranium mineralization consists of coal ash covered with sand, black pitch uranium and uranium, enriched in the margins of the tertiary sandstone channels. Uranium is transported by the oxidized solution and migrates along the buried channels and disperses into poorly permeable sandstone along the river’s edge, forming typical rolled and plate-shaped deposits. Unglazed sandstone is light gray to gray-beige. Oxidized sandstone has different colors, such as red, yellow and tan. It is proposed that the uranium source is Oligocene, but the leaching of feldspathic host rocks may provide another source of ore.
