INTRODUCTION The Seminar on Schistosomiasis Vaccine Development TDR organized by TDR (UNDP / WORLD BANK / WHO Special Program for Research and Training of Tropical Diseases) was convened in January 1991 in Geneva, Switzerland. The meeting discussed the development of anti-schistosomiasis vaccine research. The meeting concluded that the preparation of a vaccine for schistosomiasis is feasible and that specific antibody responses may provide clues to the design of vaccines that are associated with resistance to re-infection of the population. The initial goal of the TDR-coordinated vaccine project is to support candidate vaccine antigen generation
