The purpose of this study was to investigate whether vitamin E has an effect on cyclic nucleotide metabolism in cold-exposed rats. We used radioimmunoassay to determine the content of acid in the nucleus annulus after oral administration of vitamin E at 4 ℃. The results showed that the excretion of cyclic nucleotide in the urine of rats exposed to cold continued to increase, while the cAMP / cGMP ratio was unchanged. Vitamin E increased excretion of cAMP in rats exposed to cold, compared with the simple cold exposure group, P <0.025. cGMP excretion is not significant difference. Two weeks after the cold storm increased cAMP / cGMP ratio, P <0.025. It is suggested that vitamin E may increase the energy metabolism under the low temperature environment of cAMP as “second messenger”.
