To investigate the role of tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) and interleukin-6 (IL-6) in the pathogenesis of KD and their association with KD coronary artery disease (CAD), KD Children with serum TNF-α and IL-6 levels, compared with the normal control group, and KD and CAD group and CAD group were compared. Results The levels of serum TNF-α and IL-6 in KD children were significantly higher than those in normal controls (P <0.01). TNF-α was also higher in children with KD and CAD than those without CAD (P <0.05) IL-6 in the two groups no significant difference (P> 0.05). It is suggested that both TNF-α and IL-6 are involved in the pathogenesis of KD, while TNF-α may play a more important role than CAD in IL-6 in children with KD.
