辽东是我国前寒武系地层出露较好的地区之一。本区太古界变质岩系属于高级区岩系,清原群、鞍山群古陆核由云英片麻岩、长英片麻岩。含辉石的斜长角闪岩、磁铁紫苏麻粒岩、二辉麻粒岩、斜长角闪片麻岩等组成,夹条带状含铁建造。除云英、长英片麻岩等外,多数岩石可恢复为基性-超基性镁铁质喷发岩。从早元古代开始,骤然扩大了水圈,辽河群下部还有一些酸性火山岩(下辽河亚群或宽甸群),从辽河群中上部开始,沉积建造占优势,在区域变质作用
Liaodong is one of the better exposed parts of Precambrian strata in China. The Archean metamorphic rocks in this area belong to the high-grade rock series. The Qingyuan Group and the Anshan Group’s ancient continental core consist of nephelite gneiss and gneiss.
