Objective To investigate the effect of aluminum electrolysis working environment on genetic material of workers. Methods Chromosomal aberrations of peripheral blood lymphocytes were detected in 116 aluminum electrolytic workers, 26 carbon workers and 56 non-hazardous workers (hereinafter referred to as normal people). The types and frequencies of their aberrations were observed and analyzed. Results The rate of tetraploid cells in peripheral blood lymphocytes of aluminum electrolytes workers was significantly higher than that of carbon workers and normal people. The rate of tetraploid cells and chromosome aberration cells in aluminum electrolytes increased with the length of service Elevated, longer than 3 years of aluminum electrolysis workers tetraploid cells and workers of more than 6 years of aluminum electrolysis workers, the rate of chromosome aberration cells were higher than the normal population, with significant differences. Conclusion Aluminum electrolysis can cause workers’ peripheral blood lymphocyte chromosome damage
