Stephanie: Ah, what a day! I don’t know how you do it, Rod.
Rod: Do what?
Stephanie: ①Keep such a level head all the time. Don’t you ever feel like you are going to 1)crack under all the pressure?
Rod: Trust me, ②when I was in your shoes, I had my fair share of meltdowns. But after a while you learn, unless you have some sort of release outside of the office, you’re never going to make it. When you walk out those doors, you have to switch off work.
Stephanie: ③Easier said than done. I’ve got reports to file, client meetings, and speeches to give. It’s all buzzing around in my brain.
John: No, he’s right, Steph. If you keep thinking about all the work stuff, ④you are writing yourself a one-way ticket to the funny farm. You’ve got to get yourself a hobby, or something to relax your mind.
Stephanie: What do you do? I’m not sure I have the time or energy for anything once I get home at the end of
the day.
Rod: ⑤That’s the oldest excuse in the book. Everyone can make time if they really want something. Even if it’s one hour of reading before you go to sleep each night.
John: For me, it’s hitting the gym. The workout lets all the stress out and I am guaranteed to sleep like a rock afterwards.
Rod: My wife got me into yoga. I was so reluctant to do it; I thought it was only for girls, but I’ll tell you what, some of those positions are 2)mighty difficult to pull off. It’s so
3)cleansing, though. You should join us if you are keen.
Stephanie: I’ll definitely keep it in mind. But I might start out with something I can manage within my own home. Looks like it’s time to bust out the knitting needles.
John: ⑥Each to their own.
