I think we study chemistry today for three purposes. First, to protect the environment, and second, to improve life and third, to save energy. Here we consider the issue of energy saving it. Your country is one of the most resource-rich countries. However, I think we are also thinking about how to effectively use resources. The lack of resources in Japan, even more so. Table 1 shows Japan’s consumption of oil in 1976, totaling more than 230 million liters. Except for the indicated imported products, all are derived from the imported crude oil. Japan’s petrochemical industry is based on naphtha as raw material. As a synthetic chemist, I think in recent decades, unless there is a great deal of technological innovation, synthetic raw materials can only rely on petroleum and its related gases. Coal is also turning it into oil, as a synthetic chemical raw materials to use only convenient. Therefore, consider saving oil, it means that how to skillfully use something other than oil.
