根据《春秋》、《左传》所载录的亲迎之礼,可以发现:春秋时代诸侯国君、公子、卿大夫等阶层有时真正行亲迎之礼,有时变通性地行亲迎之礼,有时未行亲迎之礼,特别是周天子不亲迎成为一种常态。按礼制规定,在新郎不亲迎时需要派公卿前去迎娶新娘,但《谷梁传》、《公羊传》却说,只要新郎不亲自迎娶新娘即为“非礼”。在这种文化背景下,《诗经·齐风·著》就被汉儒解释成刺齐国不亲迎的诗歌,汉代以后儒者继续沿袭这种说法。历史事实证明,《春秋》、《左传》所载齐国亲迎之事并未涉及非礼,而《著》诗中也无不亲迎之意,因此两千多年来对《著》诗的性质及其主旨的理解是错误的。《著》自然而真切地展示了齐人举行婚礼的场面,是“周人逆于户”的真实写照,并非刺齐人不亲迎之诗。
