国内的话剧演出市场掀起阵阵热浪,几乎每周都有三四部话剧在同时上演.北京的大小剧场似乎很少歇过场。《臭虫》、《死无葬身之地》、《雷雨》、《科诺克或医学的胜利》、《保尔·柯察金》、《三姐妹·等待戈多》、《三毛钱歌剧》等几十部戏的上演,将京城的话剧市场搅得热热乎乎。与此同时,一向追求时尚的上海人也不甘寂寞,先后排演的《安提戈涅》、《阴谋与爱情》等剧曾引起了不大不小的反响。武汉话剧院和武汉演出公司以股份合作剧组形式联合推出话剧《背景婚姻》,在小剧场连演30场。广东省剧协和广州市剧协索性决定以介绍和宣传话剧为宗旨常年主办“羊城话剧墟”。事实上,就连远在天边的新疆话剧团,也借上演《罗布泊的情祭》之际,煽点边疆话剧爱好者心中的火苗。
