2007年1月18日是新西兰斯科特南极科学考察基地建立50周年。当天,一位耄耋老人和新西兰总理以及其他高官一起出现在纪念仪式上。他肚子微微突出,背有些弯曲,走路时还有点跛,满脸皱纹,神情严肃,但他依然为保护南极净土呐喊呼号,思路清晰,言辞恳切。他就是世界首位登上喜马拉雅山最高峰、一生踏遍了地球三极的探险家埃德蒙·希拉里。
January 18, 2007 marks the 50th anniversary of the Scottish Antarctic Scientific Expeditionary Base in New Zealand. On the same day, an elderly widow appeared together with New Zealand Prime Minister and other senior officials at the ceremony. His belly was slightly prominent, his back slightly curved, his legs lame, his face wrinkled and his expression serious. However, he still shouted his call for the protection of the Antarctic Pure Land. His thinking was clear and words were sincere. He is the first explorer in the world to climb the summit of the Himalayas and travel all over the globe for three years. Edmund Hillary.
