It is known that in vitro mammalian cells previously treated with X-rays, ultraviolet light and some chemicals that interact with DNA enhance the cellular transformation caused by the tumor virus. The purpose of this paper is to further investigate the cell-virus interaction of PUVA treatment. The polyoma virus of interest is a large plaque DNA tumor virus that is cultured in 3T6 cells using a modified Estes method. The cells used were 21/13 Clone 4 of naive murine rat kidney (BHK) cells and cultured in the Dulbecco’s Modified Minimum Essential Amino Acid (DME) medium to prevent their variation by conventional culture methods.
