John Malone, chairman of Tele-Communications Incorporated, the nation’s second-largest television network, announced that television networks would refuse to broadcast CBS’s new high-definition content if the CBS program does not change its presentation format. The threat from Malone threatens a coherent agreement between the already vulnerable television networks and the broadcast network. The agreement is about future changes to digital television and the introduction of high-definition shows, sports shows and movies. For some time, some people concerned angrily declared Malone because it could hinder the transition to digital television.
