OBJECTIVE: To investigate the mechanism of Fas / Fas L involvement in the pathogenesis of KD by analyzing the expression of Fas and Fas L in peripheral blood lymphocytes of children with Kawasaki disease (KD). Methods: Flow cytometry (FCM) was used to detect the expression of CD3, CD69, HLA-DR and Fas and Fas Ligand in peripheral blood of 18 children with KD at acute and remission stage. Results: Compared with the normal control group, the percentage of CD3 in acute KD children was significantly decreased (P <0.05), while the proportion of CD3 + CD69 + and CD3 + HLA-DR + was significantly increased (P <0.05) The expression of Fas and Fas L in peripheral blood of patients was lower than that of normal control group, while the expression of Fas and Fas L was lower in acute phase than in remission (P <0.05). Conclusion: The abnormal expression of Fas / Fas L in peripheral blood lymphocytes and the abnormal activation of T cells in peripheral blood in children with KD suggest that Fas / Fas L may be related to the immunodeficiency and pathogenesis of KD.
