The Peking Opera “Gesar King” performed by the Beijing Opera Troupe of Qinghai Province recently was adapted from the “Huo Ling Wars” part of the heroic epic “Gesar” (also known as “King Gesar”) of the Tibetan people. In order to adapt to the new subject matter, the performers carried out bold reforms in the singing, doing, reading, playing, dancing, stage setting and costume of the play, and attracted the attention of the capital theater workers and audiences. On July 3, the Chinese Dramatists Association and the State Ethnic Affairs Commission, Ministry of Culture, jointly invited more than 100 experts, scholars, artists and other experts from the historical, academic and art fields of the capital to hold a forum. The symposium was chaired by Zhang Geng, vice chairman of Chinese Theater Association.
