INTRODUCTION The microchannel plate (MCP) is a secondary electron multiplier consisting of numerous thin glass tubes (lanes) arranged in thin disk-like devices fused to about 1 mm thick. The inner diameter of each lane is about 10 ~ 20μm. The inside of the lane is coated with a layer of secondary electron-emitting materials with appropriate resistance. Therefore, each lane constitutes an independent secondary electron multiplier. Applying a DC voltage across the MCP creates an electric field along the track axis. When an electron enters the road and hits the road wall, it produces secondary electrons. These secondary electrons, due to their initial velocity and electric field accelerating into a parabolic motion, hit the opposite wall and produce secondary electrons. This process goes down the road
