“立人”是鲁迅始终如一的文化理念和价值立场,“中间物”则是“立人”的逻辑展开与言说方式;以“立人”为本旨的“中间物”状态(意识)是把握鲁迅(世界)的要途。在对“立人”思想的建构中鲁迅展现了强健而独异的文化个性气质。其本质是在“立人”引导下对古今亦然的奴役关系和权势力量的拒斥。其表征呈现在两个层面:首先是一种浪漫化激进的个性气质或虚无的激进,它以“进化”的择优精神,通过强化生命意志和个体精神来对“无物之阵”进行“绝望”的“反抗”;其二是忧愤深广的虚无主义个性特征或激进的虚无,它是“转化”的“中间物”的那种“彷徨于无地”的精神焦虑,鲁迅从“虚无”出发看到了生成“实有”(希望)的可能,从而为“反抗绝望”提供了前提和意义。在此意义上,虚无的激进和激进的虚无,本身就是一个有关“中间物”命题。
