At a fashion shoot in the San Fernando Valley,
little girls line up to be part of the show. They want to be the first to try on the new line by Cecilia Cassini. She’s been sewing since she was six, and now
designs and makes dresses for girls of all ages from toddlers[学步儿童] to tweens注1.
Since her first trip to Paris as a baby to visit her French grandparents, Cecilia had a passion for fashion and Coco Chanel.
Michelle Cassini (Mother): At a very early age, Cecilia
was reading biographies on Chanel, on Valentino, on Christian Dior注2, all the…the fashion designers.
Lionel Cassini (Father): I think she has fashion in her blood in certain way, or she was a fashion designer in another life.
When Cecilia’s first-grade teacher asked the class to write a letter to someone, most students chose Santa Claus.
Cassini: (reading her letter) Dear Chanel, bonjour[(法语)你好]. I am seven years old. I am very fashionable.
She wrote to Chanel and offered to design a children’s line.
Cassini: (reading her letter) I’d be happy to meet with you and show you my designs in person[亲自]. Sincerely and fashionably, Cecilia Cassini.
Celebrities, like Denise Richards注3, are buying her dresses for their children. And young Hollywood is taking notice too.
Cassini: Is that tight enough, or do you want it, like, tighter?
When a young star of the HBO series Big Love needed a dress for a party, she called Cecilia.
Bella Thorne (Actress): Some designers are older, so they don’t know what kids want to wear. But she’s…she’s very close to my age, so she knows exactly what I want to wear.
Cecilia’s designs are grabbing the attention of buyers from some of the most exclusive[高级的] stores in Los Angeles.
Jennifer Kunski (Buyer): I was so impressed by her as a person and really inspired by her story, and thought that she would be inspiring for, you know, all kids around her age that want to do something, be a designer or whatever it is they want to be.
Cecilia Cassini has always dreamed of becoming a famous fashion designer, and now she’s making it happen—one masterpiece at a time.
