水位测针是一种古典的水位测量工具,但由于它稳定可靠,且有一定的精度,所以沿用至今。用电机带动测针逐渐下降,当针尖触及水面时立即停住。这就构成自动水位测针。水位读数由光电脉冲累计,远距离数字显示,这类水位仪国外六十年代已有多种,长办科学院研制的接触式数字水位仪亦属此类型。本文介绍的数字编码探测式水位仪,可应用于稳定流的水位测量。与国内外同类型水位仪的不同之处在于:它采用循环码数字编码盘,不要求每次都从某一基准面向下累进计数,因而测量速度快,使用方便。
