《柳如是》这部剧稿最初写于1992年。当时,陈效鸿《历史的顿挫》(人物卷)中一篇论述钱谦益坎坷一生的文章,让我眼睛一亮。读过之后,我对钱谦益与柳如是的姻缘,尤其是他们夫妇在明亡之后的痛苦与挣扎有了更深切的了解与同情,产生了强烈的创作冲动,于是匆匆写出一个戏来,初名《红豆祭》。但正如我其他一些凭借自己兴趣写出来的剧本一样,都成为案头本, “Liu Rushi” This script was originally written in 1992.
