作者简介凯瑟琳·曼斯菲尔德(Katherine Mansfield,1888~1923)出生于新西兰的威灵顿,原名Kathleen Beauchamp,父亲为富商。1903年曼斯菲尔德去伦敦女王学院求学,三年后返回新西兰,欲在音乐上谋求发展,但她并无音乐天赋,同时也厌倦英国前殖民地新西兰狭隘闭塞的生活,于是返回伦敦从事文学创作。1909年,她嫁给一位声乐老师,但成婚当晚便离家出走,1912年她与编辑约翰·米德尔顿·默里(John Middleton Murry)结婚。曼斯菲尔德常年辗转于英法两国,也曾在德国的巴伐利亚住过一段时间。在生命的最后几年,凯瑟琳生活孤苦,重病缠身,1923年死于肺部大出血,享年仅35岁。
About the author Katherine Mansfield (1888 ~ 1923) was born in Wellington, New Zealand, formerly known as Kathleen Beauchamp, his father is rich. In 1903, Mansfield went to Queen’s College London to study. After returning to New Zealand three years later, to pursue development in music, she had no musical genius. She also grew tired of the narrowly blocked life of the former colonial New Zealand. She returned to London for literary creation. In 1909, she married a vocal teacher, but left home the same night as her wedding, and in 1912 she married editor John Middleton Murry. Mansfield was removed from England and France all the year round and spent some time in Bavaria, Germany. In the last few years of her life, Catherine lived a lonely and ill life, died of lung bleeds in 1923 at the age of 35.
