现代新儒家重镇熊十力在30年代创制了富有特色的《新唯识论》,它的直接目标,诚如其副题“境论”所示,乃系阐述本体论或宇宙观。但是,在熊十力看来,“不见体,则人生亦是泡影”,所以“新论”的更深层次的目标,是寻找一个牢固宏远的本体论基石来安置其人生观与伦理思想。所谓“极高明而道中庸”,可以昭示熊氏的鹄的,也应是人们理解其伦理思想的入口。
In the 1930s, Xiong Shih-li, the center of modern Neo-Confucianism, created a distinctive Neo-knowledge-only theory. Its immediate goal, as his subtopic “Theories of the State” show, is to elaborate ontology or cosmology. However, in Xiong Shili’s view, “no body, life is a bubble,” so the deeper goal of the “new theory” is to find a firmly monolithic ontology to place its outlook on life and ethics. The so-called “very modest and mean” means that Xiong’s berets should also be the entrance to people’s understanding of their ethical thinking.
